Fairy garden - Adelaide Hills

Today we went exploring in Adelaide Hills. I found a really nice 45 minute bush walking track on http://www.walkingsa.org.au/ . I’m quickly beginning to really like this website. There is a particular section on there that has children and pram friendly walks. We went to the Heysen Trail Walk at Bridgewater. It is about 2 km return track.

We honestly didn’t really start out too well because I parked at the end of the track instead of the start. It took me a few tries to work out exactly where I was going. Because I was at the end of the track, the description didn’t sound right to me. We walked back to the beginning and it was so beautiful. Axl my 2 year old took his balance bike. It was a great track for that. I did have to carry the bike up a few stairs through the train but it wasn’t an issue at all.

We got to the beginning and I didn’t really know where I was meant to find this fairy garden. So we headed back towards the car. The fairy garden was at the car park, near where we parked. We found a few very small old fairy doors on some trees and I was actually quite let down. But then we decided to walk a little further and found them. I was so worth it. Axl loved it and they were so cute! He kept knocking on the doors trying to wake them up. I think it’s so amazing that someone has made this for the public. It is such a special little treat for kids. And anything to keep their imagination alive these days is a must!

I will defiantly be going back to this track. I’ll make sure I park at the write car park next time though. I get nervous when going on bushwalks and hikes with Axl because you just don’t know if it is pram or children friendly. This was a great distance for him and a bike worked really well. I wouldn’t take my pram there though.

I take it back - why so naughty

AHHH thank you my darling boy! Terrible twos finally kicked in? Big move! Missing his daddy like crazy!! Missing his family! Mum why aren't you playing with me?
I really can't blame him that much but OMG is my boy testing me! I am very busy and spending a lot of time on the computer. Uni and work takes up a lot of time on the computer and it is too expensive to have my boy in daycare anymore. If anyone has any ideas for stimulating games for him while I'm working? I do try and keep uni for when he is in bed.
The sleeps is so difficult at the moment. I have NEVER had any trouble with him sleeping until now... nope he just stays awake. WHY???
Tantrums too... this is all new to me. 
I am looking forward to having our family back together so life can be normal again. Get out of our tiny unit. Have daddy back.

Toddler adjustment to moving interstate

It is going on 2 weeks now since our big interstate move. My darling little toddler has been amazing. To start with, we had to drive over 24 hours (over 3-4 days). He had a few moments when he was frustrated but so did i!!!

I think one of the big things was we spend a night with daddy (he has been away since september). This must have been so confusing for Axl. We were with daddy again.. acting normal and then all the sudden he is gone again. Not long now and we will be back together as a family

Moving away from all this family and friends. This is a huge thing as well. His whole life, we have spend minimum 1 day a week with each side of our family and minimum one day a week with his friends. He has such a good little group of friends already..... side note.. we have been FaceTiming and he loves it!!!

I can't imagine how confused he must be. All the sudden.. he is at a new home.. new school.. doesn't get to just call around to anyone's house anymore. I feel so guilty but in the long run this will benefit him.

But honestly.. he has been amazing.. a little more naughty than usual.. that is to be expected. It hasn't even been 2 weeks yet. One of the main things he has been doing is telling me he doesn't like his new school and doesnt want to go back. Even though he says these things... He is happy to run off and play when I drop him off... he is happly playing when I pick him up... the teachers tell me he has not cried at all and eats and sleeps like a champ!! I'm putting his comments to me, down to acting out.

I feel like you may be expecting this big speech about how I recovered from the huge change and my child being a terror but I guess what you should take from my story is children are more resilient than you think.

From the beginning I went into parenting, with the moto... don't alter you'r life around the baby.. they will adjust to yours. This has honestly worked for us and this is a fine example. I could have been worrying terribly about this massive change for my boy but it really hasn't effected him as much as I thought it would.

HELP!!! Mum guilt - University- working - 0 time

Ok mums. I need advice or even just reassurance?
I've just moved interstate away from all family and friends. I know no one here. My husband is away in the army. I am full time studying at University and working from home with my boy home 15 hours aweek.

Oh why does the guilt have to happen. All he does is iPad and eat while I'm working. I am on the phone to customers all day, so I need him to be quiet. I just can't afford him to be in daycare while I'm working as he is already in daycare 3 days a week for me to go to university.

Is anyone is the same boat? Any advice for more exciting stimulating (yet quiet) activities for him to do while I'm working?
